NFL WEEK 4 REVIEW

Writer: Travis HerzingTravis Herzing

Week 4 was one of those weeks where one player broke the slate. And sadly, if you didn't have said player, you more than likely had no chance of winning a tournament (or cashing). That player this week was T.J. Hockenson from Detroit. Luckily for me, he was on my team. This week, I went with a Chargers stack and bring back. I loved a bounce back week from Justin Herbert and the boys against Houston and it did not disappoint.

For Week 4, I played on DraftKings. Let's dive in.

Contest: NFL $100K Stiff Arm (Single Entry)

Buy-In: $555

1st Place Payout: $15,000

Min-Cash: $1,000

Result: 24th Place.

QB: Justin Herbert. I loved this spot for Herbert all week. I actually started making lineups earlier this week and Herbert was the first lineup that I made and really liked. Herbert was coming off of a rough game at home against Jacksonville where the Jags smacked them around 38-10. Houston is an improved team this season from last but no where near how talented LAC is this season, especially when healthy. Herbert played well throwing for over 300 yards and 2 TD's without an INT. This performance was worth 24.10 DK points. One more TD would have been nice but beggars can't be choosers.

RB1: Austin Ekeler. There are a few ways to build a stack in DFS. You can grab a QB with 2 of his pass catchers or you can grab a QB and take his RB and 1 pass catcher. This week, I decided to go with the latter. Ekeler is a big part of the Charger offense as he gets a decent amount of carries but also catches balls out of the backfield. So far on the season, Ekeler has been somewhat quiet. Until this week, that is. Again, I liked the idea of picking on Houston this week and Ekeler also did not disappoint. He rushed for 60 yards, caught 6 calls for 49 yards and the best part of the week was that he had 3 TD's which all totaled 34.90 DK points. Absolute smash.

RB2: Khalil Herbert. Herbert X2. If you read last weeks blog, you'll remember how pisssed off at David Montgomery I was. Well, Montgomery was inactive this week from his injury that he suffered last week. Herbert was in line to get all the work this week against a weak Giants team. However, it didn't pan out like I expected it to as the Giants won the game and Herbert only had 77 rushing yards and 1 catch for 11.10 DK points. Not great but it could be worse.

WR1: Mike Williams. Queue in the "HERE WE GO AGAIN" comments. Big Mike. Big freaking Mike. Considering the main part of my lineup was a Chargers stack, Big Mike needed to be rostered. As you know, I can never get Big Mike right especially when Allen is playing. However, with Allen out this week, I expected Williams to have a big game. He ended with 7 catches for 120 yards for 22 DK points. No TD's though which would have put him over the top but I'm happy I finally rostered Williams on a day he performed well.

WR2: Tyler Lockett. This is another guy that I can never get right. It's either him or D.K. Metcalf. It just seems like whoever I get, the other guy always has a better game. This week was no different. Lockett did have 6 catches for 91 yards and 14.10 DK points but Metcalf was the play as he went off for over 150 yards and looked pretty unguardable. Lockett for only $5,900 was who I went with though as I figured the Seahawks would be able to move the ball against Detroit's defense who has been terrible to start the season.

WR3: Brandon Cooks. My bring back this week from the Chargers stack was Brandon Cooks. The Texans aren't a good football team but Cooks always gets his targets and does perform pretty well each week. He doens't usually break the slate, but that is fine. Cooks was doing fine until he finally caught a TD later in the game and ended with 7 catches for 57 yards and that TD for 18.70 DK points. I'll take that for sure.

TE: T.J. Hockenson. The slate breaker! Hock! As I mentioned above, there was one player who if you didn't have, you probably didn't win. Hockenson was that guy this week as he exploded for 8 catches, 179 yards, 2 TD's, and a 2 point conversion catch for 42.90 DK points! An absolute smash! With Detroit being banged up especially the Sun God not playing, Hockenson looked like he was ready to have a nice game. At just $4,100, he was a lock play for me. Tight end is usually a punt position unless you're drafting Travis Kelce or Mark Andrews but Hock got the job done this week and was a huge reason my lineup was successful this weekend.

FLEX: Richie James Jr. So, I drafted James Jr. back in Week 2 when I cashed my first lineup of the season. The Giants have no pass catchers as some are injured and some are just dust. I felt like James Jr. was in a great spot and he has already shown that he can have some decent games. This week though, he sucked. He only caught 1 ball for 9 yards and didn't even get a full DK point. 0.90. Yikes. This was a huge miss this week.

DEFENSE: Chicago Bears. The Bears confuse me. They don't pass, yet they have Justin Fields. They should have got pounded by the 49ers in Week 1. However, they somehow won the game. This week they played the Giants who I don't think are good even though their records shows otherwise. The Bears lost this game 20-12 and only got me 6 DK points. Defense don't matter much unless you find a defense that gets you 15+ points so overall, it is what it is.

Results: 24th place out of 200 for $1,200!

The Chargers stack with our Cooks bring back worked out to perfection. Week 4 was a much better week than Week 3 as most of our players did well. Richie James Jr. really hurt us with 0.90 points but the rest I can't complain about. I finished in 24th place for $1,200. My highest scoring player was T.J. Hockenson so I'll be ordering his jersey sometime this week! I finished the week with 174.70 points. A min-cash needed 149.26. I didn't really have many decisions to make Sunday morning as I really liked this team all week. Of course I had a few guys that I wanted such as Saquon Barkley, Eagles players, Jonathan Taylor, The Big Dog Derek Henry, and more. I will be heading to Buffalo in Week 5 for the Steelers/Bills game as well as Kenny Pickett's first career start! GO STEELERS!

Nice work, Mr. Pfuftig. The babes and and I finished out of the money, but they watched the Steelers game wearing only gold wrist bands and eye black, and put on a very nice halftime show. I have no complaints. They want to see a photo of you in your jersey when you get it. They're big Hock fans, and Pfuftig Pfanatics as well. LFG.
