NFL WEEK 7 REVIEW

Week 7 is in the books and there was a lot of buzz going on after the games as to whether Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady should have retired as both took yet another L this week. But, why does this matter for the article? Well, I did it AGAIN. For the 3rd straight week, I went back to that well with a Brady stack. Do I need my head re-examined? Last week I was saying that I don't believe Brady is washed. But, against the Carolina Panthers, Brady didn't even score a single touchdown and lost 21-3. I truly do not want to believe that he is done but the numbers don't lie. Maybe we can just blame Gisele for the curse she has put over Tom's head. Can someone call Gisele and maybe ask her to just relax for a bit and hammer him after the season is over? On a different note, my family got home from Punta Cana and about half of us are sick. I woke up Saturday morning with pink eye and the worst sore throat of my life. I also was diagnosed with a double ear infection and sinus infection. This week hasn't been the easiest for me. But, we have a recap to write.

For Week 7, I played on DraftKings. Let's dive in.

Contest: NFL $100K Stiff Arm (Single Entry)

Buy-In: $555

1st Place Payout: $15,000

Min-Cash: $1,000

Result: 69th Place.

QB: Tom Brady. Seriously, what the hell? I understand the guy is 45 years old. But, as I watch him play, the balls are still spirals, he can still throw the deep ball, and he looks fine. Why can't they score? This is the 3rd straight week that we stacked Brady against dog water defenses (Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Carolina). All 3 weeks now, I'm wondering if this stack is going into the "Never Again" category. The "Never Again" category currently has Big Mike Williams and Kyle Pitts. I'd hate to put Brady in that category so again, lets just blame Gisele for now. The Bucs lost this game 21-3 to the Panthers even after they traded away their best player in Christian McCaffrey. Brady finished the game with 290 yards passing and 0 TD's for 11.70 DK points.

RB1: Austin Ekeler. This guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite players to watch. He doesn't get many rushing yards as an RB but he catches what seems to be 10+ balls a game. He's on pace to shatter all sorts of records this season. The Chargers were facing the Seahawks in what was expected to be shootout so I looked no further than locking Ekeler in even with his high salary. The game ended 37-23 with Seattle taking the W here but Ekeler did not disappoint. He had 12 catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. He also had 31 yards rushing and another TD on the ground for a total of 36.70 DK points. Smash.

RB2: Josh Jacobs. A few years ago, I tweeted this guy hoping that he breaks his leg. He came out and said he doesn't care about fantasy football and that he was sitting out whatever week of the season it was. Then, a few hours later, he ended up playing. Okay, I get it, he isn't worried about fantasy football and he just wants to focus on himself and his team. Cool. But, in today's world, we have people who play fantasy football (especially DFS) for a living. Stop being a dick and just play. Jacobs came into this week as the #1 projected RB as he has been absolutely dominating opponents defenses lately. This week was no different as Jacobs ran for 143 yards and 3 TD's! He also had 3 catches for 12 yards and totaled 39.50 DK points. (Had we cashed, I would have had to order his jersey. I hate this guy so I'm glad I don't own his jersey). Smash.

WR1: Mike Evans. This feels like a trend. Rostering Evans and Godwin in the Brady stack and not performing. What do they say about the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result? Yes, call me insane. Evans finished the game with 9 catches for 96 yards and 18.60 DK points. BUT, in the first couple MINUTES of this game, Brady hit him with a perfect 75 yard ball that would have easily went for a TD as Evans was WIDDDDDDDDDDDDE open and he straight up botched the catch. I'm pissed as this came back to bite me and was the reason we did not cash this week.

Yes, he dropped this. With no Panther defenders in sight!

WR2: Chris Godwin. Oh, hey! It's Chris Godwin again. As you could guess since the Bucs lost 21-3, this didn't work out too well either. Godwin ended with 7 catches for 43 yards and no touchdowns. 11.50 DK points against a piss poor defense like Carolina is pathetic. I have 2 words for you Chris. Get better.

WR3: CeeDee Lamb. With Dak coming back and the Cowboys playing against the worst defense in the NFL this season, I had Lamb as a lock button play. He's the Cowboy's #1 WR and has a ton of talent. Lamb had 4 catches for 70 yards and 10.60 DK points. No good.

TE: Foster Moreau. The Island of Moreau. The Raiders starting tight end, Darren Waller, was ruled out for this game so Moreau was expected to see almost all of the offensive snaps. He was only $2,800 in salary so this was a must play for me as well. Except, the Raiders are ass and Foster only caught 3 balls for 28 yards and 5.80 DK points. Bad.

FLEX: DeAndre Carter. The Chargers are a mess. How was this team projected to come out of the AFC this season? They suck. With Allen a game-time decision and knowing his track record, I assumed he was going to sit. Which meant that Carter would be on the field for all of the snaps. The bad part about this was the game was a 4PM start so I had to roll the dice and hope. Of course, Allen decides he's going to play which meant Carter wouldn't get as much time on the field and it showed. He caught 3 balls for 37 yards and 6.70 DK points.

DEFENSE: Seattle Seahawks. Once again, no need to worry about defense. It's usually just about who you can fit in after you build your core. Seattle was min-priced. They got me 3 sacks, 1 INT, and a defensive fumble recovery for 7 DK points.

Results: 69th place out of 200 for $0.

This week stung a little bit because at about 6PM, we were in the money. Then, Ken Walker for Seattle, who was over 40% owned broke off a 74 yard TD run in garbage time which bumped me out of the money. Remember Mike Evans? If that asshole didn't drop that 75 yard wide open TD pass from Brady, we would have solidified a cash this week. It's crazy how it comes down to 1 player or in this case, 1 play at times. I finished the week with 148.10 points. A min-cash needed 154.54.

Best Finish: 10th (Week 2)

Worst Finish: 151st (Week 1)

Cashes: 2/7

Weekly Numbers: -$555

Yearly Numbers: -$443

  • Week 1: -$535

Hey - Punta Cana Boy. Let's see some improvement. Tom Brady goes to Bob Kraft's Friday night wedding and his team loses, after he misses some stuff because he was out yucking it up with the boys. He's not "all in " I think that might have been two weekends ago - Yeah, it was the day he berated his linemen on national television. Hey - Aaron F Rogers (or is it Rodgers).... Shut the F up. Stop blaming everybody but yourself. You're old as well. It happens. I'm twice your age. My 2 whores are in love with Zippy Zappe. They want to be part of a Zappe sandwich. A Zappe stack, if you will. We're stacking Kenny Trubisky…
