Week 6 (4-1)

Writer: ryanalexander829ryanalexander829

Redemption week. Bounce back week. Vindication. Whatever you want to call it...just know it was a big relief. After Week 5's 0-4-1 blunder, it was nice to be vindicated and get back on track with a solid 4-1 week. I wasn't feeling super confident this week, but I stuck with the plan as there were some good situational angles to play. Let's jump into my picks for Week 6:

Giants +5.5

Falcons +5.5

Dolphins +3.5

Seahawks +2.5

Bills -2.5

Giants +5.5

The angle for this one was the Ravens were coming off a primetime divisional win and now going on the road against a non-divisional opponent. Plus, the Giants have been playing well under Daboll and were at home against a team that just hasn't looked right all season. The Ravens either always seem to play tight games or Harbaugh makes a boneheaded decision at some point so I really liked the Giants in this spot. The Giants kept it close all game and ended up scoring two late scores in the fourth quarter to beat the Ravens straight up! That works...win number one.

Falcons +5.5

Another situational play. The 49ers covered as a road favorite last week in Carolina. Now they were another road favorite against the Falcons. Those types of situations don't cover the majority of the time. Add on top that the Falcons apparently are going to cover every week this year and it was an easy play. Plus those red throwback helmets are fire (see Exhibit A below). The Falcons took the lead early and never trailed in this one as Mariota outplayed Jimmy G for an easy win number two.

Dolphins +3.5

I know Skylar Thompson was playing, but I really didn't think it would matter that much. Despite having a 50-1 future bet on the Vikings to win the Super Bowl, I'm not that sold on them yet and they were headed down to south Florida to take on the Dolphins and the heat which is always a tough out. Skylar ended up getting injured and Bridgewater came in to play which was a plus but Cook's big run late fourth quarter put this one away as my only loss. This wasn't really a situational play for me, but was just one I liked. Should have went elsewhere.

Seahawks +2.5

You know I love my home divisional dogs so Seattle fit the bill here, but also the Cardinals, um....they suck. This wasn't the high scoring affair most thought it would be, but the Seahawks had this game from start to finish, kicked 100 FGs and came away with a 10-point victory and an easy cover.

Bills -2.5

It's always a good idea to bet the best team in the NFL when they're less than a 3-pt favorite, right? Yes, but they actually were a situational play or at least the Chiefs were a bet against. The Chiefs were coming off back-to-back primetime wins the past two weeks. That usually ends poorly the next week so I was playing the Bills all week. Then I heard like 15 times from pundits and "experts" that "Patrick Mahomes getting points at home was a slam dunk! No way it could lose!" Whatever you say, experts. The Bills just keep coming at you and this was a back and forth game, but Josh Allen and the Bills came out win the 24-20 win and cover to complete the 4-1 week.

It was a great bounce back week that was desperately needed in the Circa after last's week disaster. Plus, Week 6 is the start of the second quarter (Weeks 6-9 in the Circa) so it was a good start to possibly cashing in the quarter with a 4-1 start. Need to keep it up as we head into Week 7!

Week 6: 4-1

Season: 16-13-1 (53.3%)
